#BullhornEngage 2019 welcomed over 1,300 attendees for three days in Boston packed with educational sessions, networking events, and powerful keynotes. Recruiting industry leaders and top vendors came together from all over the globe to learn and connect in Boston. In case you missed the event, get a full overview here:
Bullhorn Engage Boston 2019
Art Papas, Bullhorn CEO, kicked off the conference with his keynote, “The Power of People”, thanking everyone in attendance. He stressed the importance of sharing your vision and building trust.
Art offered a solution to the growing problem that recruiters face – lack of talent on the market. As members of the recruitment industry we can take it upon ourselves to grow and enhance the skills of the workers that we are placing. This concept is called ‘reskilling’.
Art submits, “we need to create liquidity in the staffing industry,” to continue the upward momentum of the recruitment industry. Then, the opening keynote concluded with a video tribute honoring the CEO for 20 years since launching Bullhorn.
Exhibiting at Bullhorn Engage Boston 2019 gave Bullhorn Marketplace Partners a chance to connect with customers throughout the conference. This wide variety of leading recruitment technology featured partners such as cube19, Kyloe, herefish, CloudCall, BlueVine and many other vendors – all focused on improving processes and workflows for staffing firms. Many partners, including CloudCall, have returned year after year to Engage to showcase new developments and functionality. Having Bullhorn as both a customer and partner has inspired CloudCall to design voice and messaging capabilities tailored to staffing and recruiting firms.
Bullhorn allows an open ecosystem for customization to meet the specific needs of any team. The most popular session during #BullhornEngage was the Marketplace Speed Pitch. In this session, partners were invited to present a 2-minute pitch to the audience explaining their benefits and features. Here’s a snippet of Marketing Director Hope Serdakowski’s speed pitch on CloudCall for Bullhorn:
- Earvin 'Magic' Johnson
- Strategic Planning
- Emotional Intelligence
- Scaling a Business with Technology
Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Magic Johnson Enterprises CEO, serves the business world by applying skills that he developed on the basketball court as a legendary NBA Hall-of-Famer. During this fireside chat, Johnson highlighted professional and personal life lessons such as knowing your customer, and over delivering to your customer. Johnson’s success is built on his ability to adjust due to his customer’s needs. This can be seen in the ‘millennials section’ in Dodgers stadium and changed music and food at urban Starbucks. He stated, “It’s hard to get to be number 1, but even harder to stay number 1.” Image Source.
Strategic Planning: Preparing to Move from S Release to Novo Kimberly Laipple, Scientific Search & Kyle Ketchum, ALKU. Kimberly and Kyle spoke on their experience transitioning from Bullhorn S Release to Novo. Their experiences allowed them to give tips on a seamless transition; including having a good test group and even utilizing a Sandbox prior to go live, to ensure that there are no issues with custom workflows. It is key to understand how your team’s day to day will be affected, and ensure that they are prepared for the change. Scientific Search and ALKU, both customers of CloudCall, also noted the importance of ensuring that your marketplace partners are ready for Novo and taken into consideration during the transition.
Tim Sanders Keynote: Deeper Media Emotional Intelligence is just as valuable in the fast-paced staffing industry as IQ, job experience, or education. During this session, Tim offered practical reasoning and advice in order to hone emotional intelligence and bring out the best in others.
Digital Transformation through Change Management: Overcoming Fear and Risk Maggi Singh, Vice President of Information Technology at Adecco Group. Maggi presented a moving analysis of adoption. She has not only been at the helm of internal adoption of Bullhorn at Adecco but has proudly adopted two children into her family. Maggi’s incredible story delivered a powerful message about adoption. One of the different areas that helped her manage the human side of change at Adecco is acknowledging the loss of the old system. Many users could be tied to the old system and forced to face change, which can be difficult.
One of the curated can’t-miss sessions on the CloudCall blog last week included a panel discussion about scaling a business with technology with panelists including Anastasia Valentine, Resource 1; Gay Belt, BG Staffing; Lauren Griffin, Volt Workforce Solutions; Nina Eigerman, Bullhorn.
“Selecting your ATS and understanding the technology you want to implement is the first step of the big vision for what you’re trying to build,” Anastasia Valentine, Founder and President of Resource 1 finds. It is important to use a full technology ecosystem to facilitate increased productivity. This session also revealed that staffing companies are evolving into technology companies that staff top tier talent.
Last year, we offered attendees free IM and this year we are excited to offer free integrated texting for the first 2 months with the purchase of CloudCall. This promotion will be available for all attendees of Bullhorn Engage (until 3 months after the event, find more details here).
We look forward to the opportunity to meet and spend time with our customers and partners every year at Bullhorn Engage. Engage 2020 will be held in Austin, TX. See you in June!
