I have been working as a developer on Salesforce.com and force.com for over 10 years and have always wanted to attend Dreamforce. This year finally marked that opportunity and it has been an awesome experience so far. Just two days in and we still have Dreamfest to come! In these two days I have already seen many innovative solutions on both sales and service cloud by other partners and developers.
Highlights so far have been the Partner Keynote and ISV roadmap sessions. I have been able to see firsthand what new and great features Salesforce has planned for its ISV partners both in terms of business development and platform features. During the sessions Salesforce have announced the launch of Lightning Exchange is the App Exchange for their lightning components. This is exciting as I can already see some cool components we can develop within our CloudCall platform for this new Lightning Exchange. They have also announced wave for ISV’s which means they can develop solutions and components for wave and can extend functionalities. The best part of the Partner Keynote was when the CEO of Sage Stephen Kelly, announced the end of ERP and referred to it as Expense Regret and Pay. He also handed out ERP candy!
My focus at Dreamforce has been to learn more about ISV technologies and what future CTI has on the force.com platform. As well as this I have also learnt about new platform features for ISV’s – some of which are still being tested. I am confident that the knowledge I have gained from these sessions, will help us in providing a better solution to our customers and partners and CloudCall for Salesforce will be a truly world class solution.
Today was the main Keynote from Marc Benioff. I really enjoyed the Keynote – the atmosphere was electric in the hall. Some highlights for me were:
- Announcement of the Internet of Things cloud powered by Thunder. Using this companies can gather real time data for their connected devices directly into the cloud and then via analytics use it for business making decisions. An interesting fact is that Microsoft are the launch partner for this product.
- The growing partnership between Salesforce and Microsoft is really exciting with some key integrations of software being announced.
I will be attending more ISV focused sessions and also the App Cloud Keynote. And of course, Dreamfest where the Foo Fighters are playing!
Personally this has been a wonderful experience. I have been inspired by all the innovative solutions I have seen and listening to so many great technology minds. Being here has given me the opportunity to interact with very technically minded people in Salesforce and a platform to discuss all manner of subjects with them that simply would not have been possible before. Connecting with our partners has been great as well and I am sure this will help us to create more innovative solutions for our partners and build on the already strong partnerships with have with them.
